Urinary Incontinence (UI) & PEMF at Pro Active
At Pro Active we have had great results in helping people manage their urinary incontinence with PEMF. PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy and is FDA approved to treat urinary incontinence.
It is a relaxing, non-invasive and effective way of treating this condition both in relieving the immediate symptoms and helping to improve the long term effects that it can impose. The way that PEMF works in relation to UI is by the having the patient lie down on the bed and activating the machine to omit low frequency magnetic field pulses to the desired areas promote it’s healing effects.
These pulses can have a wide range of benefits by stimulating and strengthening pelvic floor muscles and improving nerve function in the pelvic region. This stimulation can lead to better bladder control and a reduction in incontinence episodes.
Here's how PEMF helps:
Strengthens Pelvic Floor Muscles: PEMF therapy activates the nerves and muscles in the pelvic floor, leading to increased strength and endurance of these muscles, which are crucial for bladder control.
Improves Nerve Function: PEMF can help restore proper nerve function in the pelvic area, which is essential for coordinating bladder control and the signals between the brain and the bladder.
Reduces Incontinence Episodes: By strengthening muscles and improving nerve function, PEMF can help reduce the frequency and severity of incontinence episodes.
Non-Invasive and Safe: PEMF is a non-invasive treatment, meaning it doesn't require surgery or injections, and it is generally considered safe with minimal side effects.
PEMF can be used alone or in combination with other treatments like pelvic floor exercises for a more comprehensive approach to managing bladder incontinence.
At Pro Active our PEMF sessions take place over the duration of 30-60 minutes per session and are often noted as relaxing and pain-free. Patients can often fall asleep whilst this process is happening.
Please note PEMF is not to be confused with a TENS machine and does not apply electrical current to the body.

Dislaimer: Although we have a great track record with PEMF and UI, everyone's situation is different and so we cannot guarantee its efficacy or any specific results from the treatment.
